Maria joined the Center for Innovation in Social Work and Health in July 2018 as a research assistant for the HRSA Community Health Workers project. After graduating from the University of California Berkeley in 2014, Maria began to work as a legal assistant for a non-profit law firm that represented unaccompanied minors seeking asylum. Maria began the MSW/MPH program at Boston University in 2016, where she worked with asylum-seeking families and conducted research for the Center for Addictions Research & Services.
Maria received her MSW in May 2018 and is currently completing her Master’s in Public Health. Maria wants to continue working in Public Health Social Work, specifically in increasing access to mental health services for immigrant populations.
