Webinar: Breaking the Link Between Special Health Care Needs and Financial Hardship
On April 27, staff from the Catalyst Center, a project of the Center for Advancing Health Policy and Practice at Boston University School of Public Health, conducted a webinar to introduce the updated edition of Breaking the Link Between Special Health Care Needs and Financial Hardship. We revisited the impact that health care financing and coverage gaps have on the lives of real families and highlighted innovative policy solutions that can improve the system of care for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). This webinar was an opportunity to:
- Learn about data related to insurance status and insurance inadequacy for CYSHCN, with a focus on demographic differences and inequities
- Define causes and consequences of financial hardship for families raising CYSHCN
- Evaluate the applicability of specific state strategies in addressing financial hardship
- Identify resources for state-specific data, hear examples of strategies, and learn about other Catalyst educational materials
Introduction by LCDR Leticia Manning, MPH, MCHB/HRSA project officer
