The Dissemination and Evaluation Center (DEC) was formed in 2015 as part of the Dissemination of Evidence-Informed Interventions to Improve Health Outcomes along the HIV Care Continuum Initiative, a Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) initiative. The DEC has adapted four previously implemented HRSA HIV care interventions for replication and is currently implementing a multisite evaluation plan using an Implementation Science framework in order to disseminate successful practices to the field. By taking an Implementation Science (IS) approach, the DEC will gain insight into the barriers and facilitators of successful implementation of each of the four interventions to guide future replication of the interventions. In addition to studying the implementation, the DEC studies HIV Care Continuum outcomes of linkage, retention, re-engagement and viral suppression among persons living with HIV.
The following four interventions are currently being implemented through the initiative:
- Transitional Care Coordination: From Jail Intake to Community HIV Primary Care
- Peer Linkage and Re-engagement for Women of Color Living with HIV
- Enhanced Patient Navigation for Women of Color Living with HIV
- Integrating Buprenorphine Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder in HIV Primary
The DEC currently provides training and technical assistance to 12 demonstration sites implementing the adapted interventions. Learn more about the Dissemination of Evidence-Informed Interventions project and the adapted interventions at https://nextlevel.careacttarget.org/
The DEC team has partnered with substance use disorder experts to modify its existing buprenorphine treatment manual. “Integrating Buprenorphine for Opioid Use Disorder in Primary Care” is now available here.
